The Oath Department of the Customary Court of Appeal, FCT, established in 2022, is responsible for the processing, control, and issuance of all forms of affidavits, oaths, and customary marriage certificates.
The department ensures standardized, secure, and legally accurate affidavit processes for members of the public and institutions, including the deployment of the e-Affidavit platform with QR verification codes to prevent forgery.

The Oath Department has implemented a modern e-Affidavit system to ensure uniformity, legal accuracy, and security. Key features include:
Every affidavit issued through the platform includes a unique QR code for instant verification, making forgery or duplication practically impossible.
Affidavit offices are maintained at the Nigerian Immigration Service Headquarters (Sauka, Abuja) and Gwagwalada Passport Office for convenience.
The Oath Department is also responsible for the processing and issuance of marriage certificates for marriages conducted under customary laws, regardless of the custom or place of marriage. This service ensures legal recognition of customary unions within the FCT.
