Abaji Zonal Court

The Abaji Zonal Court is one of the four zonal courts established by the Customary Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory to decentralize justice delivery and make the court more accessible to rural communities.

Located in Abaji Area Council, this zonal court sits periodically to hear and determine customary law matters, appeals from local Customary Courts, chieftaincy disputes, and other related cases arising within its jurisdiction. The creation of zonal courts reflects the Court's commitment to bringing justice closer to the grassroots level.

The Zonal Court operates under the supervisory jurisdiction of the Customary Court of Appeal Headquarters in Utako and follows the same procedural rules and customary law principles applied across the FCT.

  The Abaji Zonal Court holds sittings on scheduled dates to hear cases from Abaji and surrounding communities, reducing the need for litigants to travel to the Headquarters in Utako.
