Kuje Zonal Court

The Kuje Zonal Court is one of the four zonal courts established by the Customary Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory to decentralize justice delivery and make the court more accessible to rural and semi-rural communities.

Located in Kuje Area Council, this zonal court holds periodic sittings to adjudicate customary law matters, appeals from local Customary Courts, chieftaincy disputes, and other related cases arising within its jurisdiction. The zonal court system reflects the Court's commitment to bringing justice closer to the grassroots level across the FCT.

Jurisdiction & Functions

The Kuje Zonal Court handles:

All proceedings at the Kuje Zonal Court are conducted under the supervisory jurisdiction of the Customary Court of Appeal Headquarters in Utako and follow the same procedural rules and application of customary law as the main court.

  The Kuje Zonal Court convenes on scheduled dates to hear cases from Kuje and neighbouring communities, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances to the Headquarters in Utako.
